Both the Precision team and the Sporter team brought back trophies from the 2012 Army JROTC Service Championship at Camp Perry, Ohio, on Feb. 9. The Precision team, consisting of sophomores Sarah Jameson and Allie Juergensen, senior Karri Mickelson and junior Caitlyn Lasseigne, was led to victory by its captain, senior Rishi Patel, dominating the five other participating schools in a victorious sweep. The Sporter team, with members junior Emily Bendix, sophomores Andrew Jenkins and Isaiah Ziegler, freshman Olivia Holm and senior Micki Thomas, claimed third place from among 15 total Sporter teams. "I feel really excellent about this," Mickelson said. "I'm a senior, and we've never placed first in Rifle Team history, so to get first this time was crazy." In addition to the team's performance, Jameson's accuracy earned her individual distinction, nabbing first place overall in the Precision division. Rounding out the top 10, Juergensen, Mickelson and Lasseigne placed fifth, sixth and tenth, respectively. In the Sporter division, Bendix placed second overall. The Rifle Teams are coached by Sergeant Mark Mebes. For individual results, click here. |
